Course description

Participants attend the intensive German course and have a further 45-minute individual lesson every day to consolidate their German studies and/or cover new ground.

The combination of intensive course and individual lesson offers the benefit of the advantages of both types of courses: In the group course subjects are introduced and practised in a range of varied activities, in the individual lessons these subjects can be consolidated according to your wishes or weaknesses. Whether you reinforce the themes introduced in the group lessons or whether you recapitulate complex themes – your tutor will tailor this lesson to your needs.

Morning course or afternoon course?

Depending on your private or professional commitments you can book an intensive course in the morning from 08:00 to 13:00 or in the afternoon from 13:30 to 18:45. The individual lesson can be given either before or after the group lessons, according to your preferences.

Course levels

Our German courses are offered in accordance with the Common European Framework of the European Commission for Language Learning. This framework has six levels A1-A2-B1-B2-C1-C2. Courses are offered at all levels, elementary courses (A1-A2), intermediate courses (B1-B2) and advanced courses (C1-C2).

The following table gives a short explanation of the language skills you will acquire at each level. For each level approx. 250 lessons in an intensive course (5x5) are necessary. For a detailed description of the language skills acquired per course level, click here.

At the end of every level participants do a Colon exam and a Colon certificate can be issued if requested. From Level B2 the Colon certificates are recognized as proof that your German has reached the level required for admittance to the “Studienkolleg” at German colleges and universities. Placement

Participants are required to do a non-binding placement test. The results of this test will be used to evaluate the participant’s level of German and to choose the right course for each participant.
