Hafengeburtstag

Each year over 1.5 million people visit the world’s greatest port festival – the Hamburg Hafengeburtstag.

Hamburg’s port will reach the grand old age of 820 on 8 May 2009. And exciting arrival and departure parades of every type of vessel from traditional sailing boats to modern ships will help celebrate the event. The highlights in the port are to be complemented with wide-ranging programs on-land and in the air. Around 500 food and other stands will stretch from the Speicherstadt all the way to Landungsbrücken offering culinary treats and plenty of entertainment. To top it off, hot-air balloon rides, sky diving and a daily fireworks show are sure to add another dimension to the excitement.
