Between 1815 and 1940 over 50 million people left Europe fort he USA, Canada, Argentina, Brasil, Australia and other countries. Most emigrants from Germany started their long journey here on the site of the museum. The museum also is a treasure trove for genealogical research, having the passenger lists from 1850-1934. Here you will find the names of about 5 million people who left Europe through the port of Hamburg.
