A comfortable home plays a key role in ensuring a successful language study trip. That is why Colón offers a range of accommodation options to suit different needs and lengths of stay. Whether you choose to stay with a host family, in a shared flat or in a studio flat – all accommodation is carefully selected and easily accessible by public transport.
Our carefully selected host families offer international guests the opportunity to experience authentic everyday life in Germany. By living with a family, students can practise their German naturally outside of lessons and at weekends.
In Hamburg, we work with over 50 host families, whom we have personally selected and visited in their homes. Many of them have been part of the COLÓN host family programme for years.
All families are easily accessible by public transport. The journey time to the school is on average 20 to 25 minutes, with a maximum of 45 minutes.
Accommodation is available for students aged 16 and over, with a minimum stay of one week. Additional nights can be booked subject to availability. Where applicable, a security deposit must be paid on arrival, which will be refunded on departure.

A shared flat is an affordable accommodation option for younger, independent language students.
The hosts are students, working professionals or retired people. They may be individuals, couples, families or existing shared flats taking on an additional member.
This type of accommodation is particularly suitable for independent participants who are willing to get involved in everyday communal life. There is only one language student per nationality per shared flat.
We personally select all shared flats and inspect them on site in advance. Many have been part of the Colón accommodation programme for many years.
