Placement test German

For German, there are two placement tests: one for students with basic ability and one for students with advanced ability.  The test questions increase in difficulty as you proceed through the test. All the questions are multiple choice. Choose only one answer per question. You should be able to complete the test in 30-45 minutes.

The placement test for the basic level is designed for students with little prior knowledge of German. It consists of 70 multiple choice questions and takes about 30- 45 minutes to complete. Good luck!

The intermediate placement test is for students with an intermediate or advanced level of German. The test takes about 30-45 minutes to complete. Good Luck!

Please do not use a dictionary or other reference materials. As you work through the test, the questions will become increasingly difficult. When you reach a point where you are can only guess, then you should stop, as otherwise random guesses that are correct could distort the result.

After completing the test, you will receive a detailed evaluation and a recommendation of a course level. Print this recommendation out and bring it with you to the Colón office.  There you will receive professional consultation and a free trial lesson in the recommended course.
